Looking for something a little different? The Urge II Bass may be just the ticket.

How does a down-sized Alder body, a 34 inch scale length with a two octave fingerboard, an asymmetrical neck profile, an active preamp with 3-band EQ, and the ultimate combination of both Precision and Jazz Bass pickups sound? I can tell you how it sounds to me. Nothing but great!

Here's the scoop. The headstock and body are clearly recognizable as Fender, but with subtle refinements to the classic forms. A slightly extended upper horn, a dramatic lower cutaway for unimpeded access to the 24th fret and a sculpted heel are distinguishing characteristics of the body. The slim headstock shape and Fender/Schaller Deluxe Lightweight tuning machines help reduce the weight of the neck, which is extremely important for a bass with a two-octave scale. Graphite reinforcement rods inlaid under the fingerboard stiffen the neck and a six-bolt contoured plate fastens the neck to body with rock solid security, creating a rigid platform for incredible tone production.

The asymmetrical profile of the Maple neck means that this bass is built for both comfort and speed! The Rosewood fingerboard is sleek and loaded with 24 medium jumbo frets. The result? Full-bodied tone from the lowest lows to sizzling highs with great fundamental articulation, snap and punch.

The Custom Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups emulate the original Jazz Bass sound but without the accompanying noise typically associated with single coil pickups. The Custom P Bass pickup is straight-ahead Precision tone. The 3-Position Mini-Toggle switch switches between all three pickups, the Precision Bass pickup only and the two Jazz Bass pickups. The Dynamic Control pans between the combination of the front and rear Jazz Bass pickups when the mini toggle is in position one. It pans between the combination of the front Jazz and Precision pickups and the rear Jazz and Precision pickups when the mini toggle is in position two. In position three only the Precision Bass pickup is on. This bass is truly capable of maniacal morphing!

Other cool features include a chrome plated brass bridge plate with stainless steel saddles, that may be strung either through the body or top-loaded, and Fender/Schaller Straplock strap buttons.

Designed by Stu Hamm and Fenders R&D engineers, the Urge II Bass is a joy to play. It is comfortable, easy and familiar. It embodies all of the traditional Jazz and Precision Bass sounds, and paired with the active preamp, it offers up countless variety of tonal permutations.
